Shoshannah Stern was born on July 3, 1980, in Walnut Creek, CA. She was born deaf to deaf parents, and as such was raised fluent in American Sign Language, but also learned to read lips and speak English independently.

Born into a fourth generation deaf family, Shoshannah's first language is American Sign Language. She also reads lips and comfortably speaks without an interpreter.
